Unveiling the Unseen: A Three-Step Guide to Addressing Spiritual Blindspots

In the journey of faith, self-awareness is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect. Psalm 19:12 insightfully asks, "But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults." This verse give an accurate picture to the human struggle to recognize our own shortcomings and the spiritual blindspots that can hinder our walk with Christ. As followers of Jesus, it's vital to understand that identifying and addressing these blindspots is not just beneficial but essential for our spiritual growth and relationship with God. Here are three steps we can take right now to widen our lens!

Step 1: Engage in Self-Reflection and Examination

The first step in uncovering the unseen areas of our lives is through deliberate self-reflection and examination. This process allows us to look inward and identify patterns or behaviors that may be veiling our spiritual vision.

Actionable Steps:

  • Dedicate Time for Introspection: Make a commitment to set aside regular periods for prayerful reflection. This could be daily or weekly, but the key is consistency.

  • Journal Your Reflections: Keep a journal of your thoughts, actions, and emotions. Writing can help uncover patterns or recurring themes that might indicate a blindspot.

  • Ask Introspective Questions: Challenge yourself with questions that probe deeper into your spiritual life. Consider asking, "What areas of my life have I not fully surrendered to God?" or "Are there sins or struggles I'm consistently overlooking?"

Step 2: Seek Divine Guidance and Insight

Recognizing our own blindspots can be challenging without divine intervention. Seeking God's guidance is central in revealing the hidden corners of our hearts.

Actionable Steps:

  • Pray for Clarity and Revelation: Humbly ask God to illuminate any hidden faults, trusting that He desires to reveal and heal these areas.

  • Study Scripture for Self-Awareness: Engage deeply with biblical texts that prompt self-examination and reliance on God's insight, such as Psalm 139:23-24.

  • Invite the Holy Spirit's Conviction: Open your heart to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to convict and guide you towards recognizing and addressing areas needing change.

Step 3: Commit to Change and Seek Accountability

Identifying spiritual blindspots is just the beginning. The journey towards transformation requires action and accountability.

Actionable Steps:

  • Act on Insights Received: Take deliberate steps to address and correct the blindspots revealed through reflection and God's guidance.

  • Seek Accountability: Share your journey with a trusted Christian mentor or community. Their support, prayers, and accountability can be invaluable (I have this almost daily).

  • Regularly Review and Adjust: Continuously monitor your progress and be willing to make necessary adjustments. This might involve setting new spiritual goals or seeking further guidance.

Addressing our spiritual blindspots is a journey of humility, courage, and ongoing transformation. By engaging in self-reflection, seeking guidance through Scripture, and committing to actionable change, we open ourselves to a deeper, more authentic relationship with God. This process not only brings personal growth but also enhances our ability to serve and lead others in faith. Let us embrace this journey, trusting that God will guide us through His Spirit and Word, unveiling the unseen and drawing us closer to Him.

Keep Looking Up!
