If God hadn't

The moments that reveal His hand
Many of us can recall moments when the hand of God was undeniably present in our lives. The “If God hadn’t…”moments — those flashpoints of grace that realign our worries and wants into harmony with gratitude, reminding us that God has already provided, protected, and proven Himself faithful.
I can name a few.

If God hadn’t told me to look left the moment I stepped off that mission bus in Mexico, I would’ve been struck by a semi-truck that left only inches between me and eternity. The teens inside screamed — certain they’d just watched their Youth Pastor die — but God intervened.
If God hadn’t stirred a mutual friend to speak up for a veteran in despair, I might never have been called into that moment to share the hope of Christ. Who knows what would have happened that night?
When reflection reshapes faith
These moments of mercy aren’t random. They remind us of a greater truth — that God has already accomplished the ultimate “If God hadn’t” through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
If God hadn’t revealed His Son to me through the witness of another, I would have been swept away — just as David cried out in Psalm 124: “If the Lord had not been on our side…”
But in the accelerated pace of modern life, we often lose sight of this. We whisper “If God would only…” instead of “If God hadn’t…” We treat interruptions as inconveniences instead of invitations. Surrounded by prime delivery, mobile pickup, and on-demand everything, we’ve built a padded world where sovereignty feels optional.

When the padding wears thin
Eventually, though, life breaks through. Loss, change, and hardship remind us that we are not in control. When that happens, will we recognize the hand of God — or write it off as coincidence, luck, or timing?
The truth is, if God had not dealt with the self-love and twisted desires within us, we would have no hope beyond our final breath.
But He has — through Christ — and that changes everything. The Christian life is one of daily exchange: dying to the old and coming alive in the Spirit. Mortification gives way to vivification. Death gives way to life.
Living with “If God hadn’t” awareness
When we live with “If God hadn’t” awareness, we find freedom. Gratitude replaces fear. Worship overtakes worry. Formation replaces frustration.
So today, can you name your own “If God hadn’t…” moments?
Can you trace the threads of grace that have held your story together — and let them lead you to deeper trust in the One who holds tomorrow?

Such reflection strengthens our faith and steadies our hearts. We no longer lie awake fearing what others might do or what tomorrow might bring. Instead, we press on — waiting, worshiping, and walking in the confidence that God’s goodness has never failed, and never will.
Keep Looking Up,
Micah
